Did you know the bilby is nature’s “eco-engineer”?

Greater bilbies are important in the restoration of soil and rejuvenation of vegetation in arid Australia. They use their strong front paws to dig deep holes in soil that enables plant material to fall in and decompose. At the same time, soil is aerated which supports seed germination.

Bilbies essentially create numerous compost pits every night. That’s nature’s perfectly balanced ecosystem at work, but it’s threatened by the decline of bilbies.

Habitat destruction, introduced species and urban development threaten the survival of the bilby and other native species. With the decline of Australia’s native wildlife, our ecosystem hangs in the balance.

You can help us conserve precious habitats that maintain nature’s balance. Make the most generous gift you can today.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone. The clock is ticking for the vulnerable Greater Bilby and unique animals such as the bum-breathing Fitzroy River Turtle. They could face an uncertain fate unless people like you step in. Every person, including you, have a key role to play in the survival of our natural world.

Each and every day, we make choices that impact our beautiful planet. You can make a difference for nature today by taking advantage of this opportunity!

We have helped to protect a combined area of 127 million hectares of Australia’s iconic lands and waters. That’s an area nearly the size of the Northern Territory! With your support, we can do so much more. Nature is defenceless against habitat destruction. Animals like the vulnerable Greater Bilby in the Western Desert face threats such as wildfires and feral cats. For the bilby and our other precious native animals, the clock is ticking each and every day. Now is your chance to make a difference. You can help stop the Greater Bilby from going the same way as the extinct Lesser Bilby and Tasmanian Tiger.

There’s so much more to do to prevent Australia’s native wildlife from disappearing forever. Not only would your gift help protect the natural balance of Australia’s vital ecosystems, it shows you value Australia’s natural landscapes that form crucial wildlife habitats.
