Sanishya is a Manager in Ernst and Young’s (EY) Economic, Policy and Regulation team, with a particular focus on justice, family violence, gender equality and human services. Sanishya supports government departments and agencies in their strategic and investment decision-making, by ensuring programs, policies and services are delivering value for money and wider social and economic benefits.
Prior to joining EY, Sanishya worked as a trusted legal adviser at the Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office (VGSO) advising the Victorian Government across a range of areas such as civil and public interest litigation, government decision-making, privacy and information sharing, public inquiries and judicial review. During her time at the VGSO, she assisted the Victorian Government in their response to the Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence. This work aligned with her legal research project into a women’s counselling and legal service for women affected by domestic violence in Sri Lanka.
Sanishya obtained a Bachelor of Arts from New York University with a double major in Political Science and Economics. Sanishya also holds a JD from the University of Melbourne. Aligned with her interest in promoting gender equality, Sanishya is involved with Victorian Women Lawyers as a Co-chair of the Work Practices Committee, which focusses on exploring, critically evaluating and publicly commenting on issues concerning female lawyers in the workplace across a range of issues.
