Make a philanthropic gift

We partner with individuals, corporations, trusts, foundations and Private Ancillary Funds to deliver innovative programs that address the needs of our unique Australian environment and the communities that depend on it.

We are creating the vision, programs and partnerships to enable everyone to play a role in transforming conservation.

We are:

  • Empowering local communities and businesses to care for their lands and waters, for the benefit of all Australians
  • Protecting nature to preserve life and saving critical places that provide a home for our unique plants and animals
  • Catalysing sustainable economic and employment opportunities for indigenous people on ancestral lands

Our approach to conservation works because we develop new, science-based methods for long-term preservation of critical lands and waters at massive scale.

Invest in Australia’s people and our environment

Our philanthropic partners are central to helping us create and deliver our vision for Australia and our planet. You can choose to give to a specific project, or you can provide flexible funding that helps us build our capacity to deliver cutting edge conservation, delivering tangible results for people and for nature.

A philanthropic gift to The Nature Conservancy often leverages other funding sources and can achieve impact at a globally significant scale.

We are also developing mechanisms to enable market-based solutions and impact investment to deliver sustainable conservation, social and cultural outcomes.

When you make a significant gift, you will receive clear and costed project proposals so you can be sure your gift is being carefully spent. As the project progresses, you will receive program updates detailing the impact your gift is making.

What makes a Conservancy project?

We only invest in projects that have: We will NOT invest in projects that:
1. Potential to deliver massive conservation outcomes

2. The ability to demonstrate systematic, replicable design

3. Embedded permanence through complementary policy

4. Clear, concrete impact measures

5. Full-cost accounting and a pathway to sustainable funding

6. Benefits to people and nature
1. Could be better undertaken by someone else

2. Require ongoing programmatic support from philanthropy

3. Have no clear pathway to financial sustainability

4. Are not demonstrably aligned to the achievement of our desired outcomes
